      <image:title>WORKS - PETRUSHKA</image:title>
<image:caption>*WINNER - OUTSTANDING NEW WORK / OUTSTANDING CHOREOGRAPHY / OUTSTANDING PERFORMER / BEST INDEPENDENT PRODUCTION (Performing Arts WA Awards)* Petrushka (Game, Set, Match) is a multi-award winning reimagining of the much-loved ballet by Sergei Diaghilev, illustrious founder of the Ballet Russes. This innovative adaptation sees the original characters, themes and music from ‘Petrushka’ cleverly reinvented, as puppets at a fair become players on a tennis court. Audiences cheer on two players in the match of their lives as competition turns sinister and sabotage wreaks havoc. The umpire seems in on the game – but who is really pulling the strings behind the scenes? Accompanied by a corps de ballet of ball kids, this relatable tale of jealousy, manipulation and love is reinvigorated, bringing an eccentric ballet into a fresh context for new audiences. <image:title>WORKS - SHRINK</image:title>
<image:caption>Set in an ever-contracting landscape, Shrink examines our ability to be individual. A flexible and diminishing space encourages a physical dialogue to be adopted as the proximity minimises between the dancers. They tussle through flailing states of lax and rebel independence, eventually surrendering to the rhythmic rigour and homogeny of structure. Power, autonomy and conformity are at the forefront of this short work. <image:caption>New life is breathed into Igor Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring in an empowering collaboration of movement and music with the West Australian Youth Orchestra. This seminal work and the word 'spring' are reimagined as a mechanical structure, transporting dancers onto mini aerobic trampolines to fly through the air and amplify Stravinsky’s score to unseen heights. <image:caption>*WINNER - BEST NEW WORK / BEST NEWCOMER / BEST SOUND DESIGN (Performing Arts WA Awards)* Act 2, Scenes 1-4 is a visually striking crime caper inspired by Wes Anderson’s 'The Grand Budapest Hotel'. A nationally recognised independent choreographic debut, this work plays with form by reimagining Anderson’s film conventions through contemporary dance. Techniques such as stop-motion, symmetry and whip pans are skilfully inhabited by the dancers as you are swept into a saturated melodrama of mischief and mayhem.
